Replacing Ensolite

Hello !

First time posting

We just purchased a Trillium 1300 1971. We want to travel 3 weeks in Nova Scotia (canada) this simmer - we are from Quebec province.

There are many things to do on it, but I am slowly reasearching if it is possible to replace the Ensolite. I'd prefer a felt-style fiber like the one we often see in high end RVs. Attached image as example.

Does anyone has experience with changing the material ? What would you recommend, and how to do it, considering the all over curves ??

Thanks !

Juliette, What you’re proposing is a VERY big job. Also, Ensolite is a very good liner for your Trillium.

The, "felt" that you refer to is either a carpet, or marine head liner, (AKA Rat Fur). Typically, it would cover Reflectix insulation, (https://www.reflectixinc.com/) This is basically, bubble wrap with a reflective coating on each side. The process to install both of these layers is labor intensive.

Ensolite is very durable and can be reattached using contact cement.

Yep as David said re attach the Ensolite.

And a reminder to all American visitors, do not bring guns into Canada.
We have strong laws about it and a much lower per capita rate of shootings.

The OP is from Quebec, so the warning seems unnecessary (and inappropriately political at the end). Nevertheless, caution for others who might be planning a trip north. We visited the eastern provinces without the Scamp in 2019 and hope to return for a more leisurely visit with the Scamp once we are retired.

Agree about repairing the Ensolite. You can reattach loose sections, patch damaged sections using pieces from hidden areas, caulk seams and smaller gouges, then clean and paint the whole thing to look like new. If you want a soft-touch surface, in lieu of painting, you could attach marine headliner right over the repaired and cleaned Ensolite. It provides better insulation than the foil bubble wrap common on newer builds.
