retrofit to a new refrigerator.

I just bought an older Casita 17. The refrigerator does not work so I thought instead of trying to repair the existing one I would update to a new unit. I think the existing is a 1.7 cu/ft. 3 way type. quite small actually but it would be ok if I could find a simple replacement for an R and R but would like to up size a bit if it is doable without major remodeling. Does anyone have experience with doing a change out? What brand and size did you use?
