Roof vent replacement on 1973 Scamp 13’

Been restoring inside of a 13’ Scamp.
All new electrical, plumbing (what little there is),
Refrigerator, cooktop, paint.

I want to replace the 11” exaust vent with a 11” power vent.
Here is the Problem. The location of existing vent on inside does not allow for the trim ring to be used. Existing vent side is right at the curve. To use the same hole, I guess I will have to make some custom trim. ANY SUGGESTIONS??
The electrical is ran up to the overhead cabinet, just need to fish it from there.

I had an early Scamp with the vent offset like that. I installed the new fan with the same reservations you have with the vent what I thought was too close to the trolley top, as you can see from the "above the roof " pictures.

It worked out very well. The flange drops in from above into the opening without clearance being an issue. You can then build the inside frame or modify the stock one to fit. I can't see if yours is similar, but maybe this will help a bit
Once you get the old vent out, the solution gets a lot easier to see.

I went to look for pics and I'm sorry but this is all I could find....

Nice job Floyd.
It probably wound make more sense to remove the 11” x 11” and do what you did and put it a 14”.
I’m sure it would move a lot mor air than an 11”.
Looks like your frame comes down about a 1 1/2”.
Did you cut your hole from the inside or outside?

I basically cut two sides + a couple inches to extend the line of the starboard side.
If I remember correctly I cut the elephant hide from the inside with a razor knife after drilling to mark the corners, then cut the fiberglass from outside making straight cuts from each corner hole.
I made the "wood" frame from plastic handrail spindles made of that decking material. It is waterproof. It works well but should be pre-drilled for the fasteners and glued on the corners. Also pre-drill for the four screws which hold the escutcheon.

Also in this case I used the "frame" to fasten the fan down through the roof from above.
