Scamp:missing cover for electric hook-up
Hi, As of yesterday, I am a owner of a 2001 16' Scamp.
I have read for hours on this site and found lots of great ideas and help to repair some small problems(missing rivets, etc.) it has. It is in great shape.
I do have one question or two.
There is not a cover on the hole where the electric cord comes out to hook up. Is there suppose to be and how can I replace it? Any other common issues I should check for??

Scamp has an online parts sales department, though many parts are standard and available at an RV dealer, eBay, Amazon, etc.

Maybe you will get a chance to test your riveting skills
I have never seen a door by itself for sale but there are tons on epay that would fill the bill.

I had to replace mine on my 98 Casita when I got it. I had to buy a pop rivet tool and a rivet kit. You will also need a drill driver & a drill bit to drill out the old ones. I needed to also replace the outside vent for the stove too and a drain valve for the water tank. Those covers are all available at your local RV store. They are a standard item most campers use. You want rivets with the longer base. If you don't want do do it yourself the local RV business will do it. It's an easy job so it shouldn't cost too much.

My cover had broken off. Just a small plastic piece acts as a hinge on each end of the cover. The new unit I purchased was identical, so I just deflected the cover enough to remove it from the assembly, and installed it onto the original piece. That way no rivets had to be removed nor did I have to try to make sure the new piece had to have a good seal.

Do you need the round one or square one? Check with Chuck: Square electrical cable hatch #S-27-14A
He's running some sort of special. I saw the page earlier, but can't find it now.

For your irst go at it, may I suggest that you get a rivet collection and new plastic replacement caps and bases from Scamp. They are fairly cheap and you will get the right size rivets the first time. They offer several kits on their web site.

new owner
I ordered the cover and a couple of small things. My husband and I have a 42' motorcoach as well. I don't like it. It is very complicated and has to go to the shop to fix anything. I am handy with regular house stuff, hung drywall, roofed paint, laid vinyl, etc. So I would like to do most if not all the work myself. Do you think that is realistic since I have never owed a FB trailer before? I have to go tomorrow to pick up a 30 amp to 50 amp cord so I can plug it in to see what all works? I am most worried about rotted section of floor under sink.
I will post pictures of problem areas tomorrow .
Thanks again for the prompt and thorough help.
Susan

Looks like a round hole in a square hatch.
And, since we are talking about these hatch covers. The last trailer I used had the round hatch. I noticed that one of the little pegs that is supposed to snap down to keep it closed had broken off. The two square hatches seem to use a different mechanism for closing. Any comments on experiences with the different mechanisms?
And, can the second one be closed when the cord is extended (is there an opening in the cover?)

I know this is an old thread, but I've looked and looked and cannot find a replacement door for the cord port; it's completely missing. Can you tell me where you found yours?
Also, 3 of the little rubber grommets that turn to keep the big doors on the electrical switches on the outside secure are gone. Suggestions? I didn't find anything like them on the Scamp website.
Thanks for any help! / JC

Actually, I'm only missing 1 of the grommets, but it's getting hard and may break. It's about half an inch wide, and when you turn it so that the horizontal ridges are vertical, you can pull the panel off.
I don't know why they're appearing sideways (tilt to the left to see them properly); in the preview, they were correctly situated.
It's nighttime, so if you need better pics, let me know.
Thanks!

So sorry; I should have posted the inside view, as well. The whole thing is about an inch ~ front outside to inside rear.
Oddly, when I turned the front from horizontal to vertical just now, I found that the inside does not move at all, so it must be more complicated than just a little rubber thing. The front part apparently locks over something in the horizontal position.
