simple awning..

A better than nothing awning for now.. since i cant get the one out thats on the scamp alone.
I bought a cheap screenroom and cut the screening part off... Then i put one half of the awing up on the existing caseing and bungie it to that... Use the legs for the outter half. Only takes a few min for me to thread the poles and attach. Its only 10 x 10 but will do for now..

Has anybody ever used heavy-duty suction cups to attach an awning?
Just wondering?

Eric.. i think someone on the board did buy one with suction cups and they didnt stick...
I thought it was better to actaully bungie it to the case awning so it wouldnt fly away.... i will attach the legs to the xpen poles and it should be pretty secure... Not as long as the reg awning but it will do for now....

Eric, I bought three 4" suction cups used for lifting glass in the bargain bin at NAPA. They stick like glue to the fiberglass but leave a mark when you take them down. I use cable ties through the grommet holes on a blue tarp to attach to the suction cups. Then two 8 ft collapsable tent poles and some tent stakes. Harbor Freight also has the suction cups. The "awning" is great for making shade, not so great when it rains.

I have the cups from harbor freight that I've just tested so far, haven't used yet with a tarp. I found it really helps to thoroughly clean the rubber. They seem to hold much better and I don't think will leave a mark that doesn't just wipe off. I'll try to try them out this weekend and if I remember report back. (I got 4 that are about 4" in diameter, bright orange, for the same idea. Great minds think alike, right?)

When you say they leave a mark when you take them off, is it damage to the gel coat or just a smear in the wax?

It's a smear in the wax and sometimes a little black rubber. It's just a pain in the elbow to have to reach up that far with a magic eraser. There is no permanent damage.
