Solar porch light

My Compact II never had an outside light so I was at Big Lots the other day and seen a solar staircase/deck light that looked like a good fit for entry door area. I only drilled one small hole to attach a screw. It charges during the day and comes on automatically at night for about 6 hours of light. There's a switch to keep it off when not using it. The light was only $8.00 and made by Woods

Looks GOOD there Mike! I put a hardwired porchlight on mine, but I like the idea of solar, so that it's not using up precious on board battery power!
Looking at your pics, it looks like your tail lights are not original, but seem to fit the space very well. Did you replace those? Do you know/remember what manufacturer they are? Mine are getting to the point of needing to be replaced, so I'm keeping an eye out for something that will do the job but also look good in the existing space as well...

I bought them off the shelf at Visalia Trailer Sales off of highway 99 at Goshen. My old lights the light bulb sockets where corroded.

I replaced the tail lights on the Compact Jr with Bargman 92's and have been very happy with them. They're common and easy to find replacement parts. Only down side is the plastic license plate holder broke and I lost the trailer plate. If you use these, you may want to strengthen the holder.

Mike, the porchlight is a great idea! Looks good, too. The shape kind of complements the lines of your trailer.

I checked the light at night. It shines pretty well straight down where I place my step. It ran over 9 hours last night when I turned it off at 530am in the morning. Uses 2 nicad aa batteries. I plan on replacing them with Nickle metal hydride batteries when they wear out. The moon was out but It still shined a nice spot on the ground next to door.

I really like the look of that light. I have a solar one on my shed but it's a two parts, one for the solar panel and one for the light. But if yours is solar than why the 2 aa batteries?

Without the batteries the lamp would only light up during sunny times, when the solar panel was being activated. Batteries allow the power to be stored for later (like at night when you want the light).

I bought another light and now have light on each side of my door. It really helps to light up the ground next to the door and with the switch on it's all automatic. Seems to last all night too. When I store the trailer in the shade I just turn off the switch because they don't charge much in the shade.

Only I paid $2.50@ at Fred Meyer. I place a piece of 2x3* (with a hole to match the light tube partway thru) into the open end of my rear bumper and place the light in that. They are dim, but sufficient when dark outside.

*I cut the 2x3's from a 2x6 that I had. In hindsight, I would taper the cut so that the board would wedge in the bumper.
