Tow Vehicle power to solar controller?

My solar controller will charge two separate batteries, monitoring them separately, optimizing voltage for each to their battery type (there is a type selector for each channel). As long as I can properly isolate the panels from the 12V T.V. source (if that's needed) is there any reason I can't just connect T.V. power to the 12V solar panel input on my solar charger like it's a 12V solar panel and then get intelligent charging of my batteries from the T.V. instead of whatever the T.V. voltage happens to be??

It seems like it would work as long as you didn't exceed the current capacity of the controller. To protect it, you could install a circuit breaker in series with the TV input (like a 10 amp breaker for a 10 amp maximum controller).

I'm no EE, though. Maybe there would be an excessive voltage drop across the controller.
