We did some remodeling to our 'new to us' Scamp & made it dog friendly & colorful

This is our second year season with our scamp that we bought from a member on this forum. We did paint the inside and add quite a bit of 3M hooks and storage containers to make things easier for us. Since we have 5 dogs that travel with us we also added two crates under the bed and took the door off of the area under the couch to create another dog bed there. When people see us they ask how in the world we fit so much in such a little area but we do it just fine. Plus we don’t even use the storage nooks under the bed or the couch because they are just too hard to get to because you have to lift up the bedding. I figured I share some pictures.


We keep the bed down all of the time. The storage above the bed is for my clothes. We also have two 3M bins that are up next to the doors that hold our phones, kindles, or a book. On the sides of the storage we have small 3M hook that hold keys and dish towels.

We replaced the back of the couch with soft pillows that dogs like to hide in. We do have a blanket rolled up on the side so this can also be used as a bed. The storage area above the couch is for my husband’s clothes. We have 3M hooks holding up some of our kitchen utensils and we have 3M bins used to hold the DVDs next to the storage door and above the closet door. Under the storage bin we used 3M hooks to hold up a paper towel holder, a pop-a-plate holder, and a light for going out at night. We still need to hang up our pop-a-bowl holder.

This is the closet area that shows the 3M bins used for the DVDs. We also added a mirror to the door. All of the pull knobs have been changed out to white knobs with rainbow peace symbols on them. The dog food and water dish are on the floor next to the closet. We also have 3M hooks on the side by the door holding the 5 dog leashes. We have 3M hooks on the side of the closet by the bed holding 4 Sea to Summit DryLite camping towels.

The kitchen area is also our T.V. area. We have platform that we put the T.V. on so we can still get to the sink which is where we have the dog treats stored in a bag. On the counter we have a container of Clorox wipes to help keep everything clean. We also have two power strips, and our weather radio, phone chargers, and single serve coffee pot. A laptop will slide under the T.V. platform if we brought it. We also have a cutting board that can go over the stove to create a flat surface if needed.

This is a picture of under the bed where we have two dog crates that are used as two dog beds. We also have a rug in front of them so the dogs can lay down there if they want to.

This is the storage area under the couch. We took off the door and created another dog bed area.

Since people are always asking about storage and how in the world we do it, I often have to show people that it isn’t that hard. Above the sink we hold our aluminum foil, wrap, and storage bags, pots and pans, cups, plates, and bowls. There are some wine glasses in there for when we have steak.

Under the sink is our pantry and we can get quite a bit of food in there once we put in the four storage containers.

We put three hanging shoe storage containers in our closet for small things. The bug spray goes in one of the top openings since we use it more often and things we don’t use often go lower since they are harder to get to. We are planning on adding a second door lower in the closet to make the area easier to get to. We have plenty of room on the three shelves for our toiletries, dog wipes for their ‘baths’, and medical supplies.

We painted the wood of the entry blue to match the refrigerator. We put our garbage on the door handle below the window.

This is a normal set up. Since the trailer is so small we try to position it sideways as best we can while still staying on the pad. This way the dogs won’t see fellow campers as often. We also put up a fence for the dogs to have a little front yard out of the trailer. We do put up a barrier if the dogs can see the road or fellow campers through the fence, as you can see in the picture with the blue tarp on the fence. We put dog beds on one half of the area and leave the other area open.


We have three water jugs that we leave outside with our outdoor kitchen. Our truck has all of our Rome cast iron pans and the cooler. Sometimes we bring a screen room depending on where we are going and for how long. We have an outdoor popup tent that we put next to the trailer and put our port-a-potty in it and use it for outdoor showers. Stacy, we pick up our Scamp 13 in one month. Your post is a big help. I like the way you have a place for everything, and everything in it's place. We have 2 small dogs. If you can manage 5; I think our 2 should fit. Your shelves worked out good and it looks like you could carry quite a bit more if you had to. You gave me some good ideas. Thx!

The bins are 3M caddy's. You can get them on Amazon, but you can get them cheaper at local stores such as Walmart or Meijer.

We have two above the closet for DVD's, one above the couch that we store extra DVD or dog treats, one on each storage area above the bed for books or kindles, one next to the kitchen drawer for quick assess to the camera and random small things, one on the side by the stove facing the couch for coffee pods. We also have two medium bins on the front window for pens and glasses, and two small bins on the front window for remotes.

Since we only used 3M materials to hang things up we didn't have to drill any holes and we can move things around if we need to. However, they are strong enough to hold what we need and they don't fall down.

Wow! Great use of the spaces. I love the little under-couch dog bed. I also love your "gated community" when you set up camp with the dogs. So fun! And great tips about 3M products. I might see if I can squeeze in one or two of those bins. Excellent idea!
