Wider Scamp bed?

Has anybody tried to modify their 13ft Scamp 45" bed width to later stye 54" bed? Chopped 9" off Kitchen counter & closet? And no I'm not buying different Scamp.

Most anything can be done if you have the time and the inclination to do it. I added 6" to the bed in our 16ft Casita. Just make sure that if you modify or take the cabinet or closets out, you put something back in place that provides some kind structural integrity. The fiberglass cabinets are critical to the support of the roof and maintaining the overall shape of the fiberglass body. Without support, over time the body will turn into something akin to a squashed jelly bean.

It can be done as long as you leave enough of the closet to support the door and roof and relocate the twisty supports on the galley. You will likely take a hit on resale. How much depends on the quality of your workmanship.

If you do decide to go ahead, consider only widening one side. You don’t need extra width for your feet, only your head and shoulders. You can choose whether to prioritize storage or galley space.

I have considered the same plans to widen the bed but we got sleeping bags and sleep with our heads at opposite ends of the bed. Works well for us and we do this for months at a time on our winter holidays.

I measured mine at 11" wide.

Or like below... it truely sleeps like a king sized bed...
I simply used the original table with a shorten leg.

I replaced the stock table with a pedestal type in order to build my wraparound couch as shown below.
I then simply shortened the original table leg and used it to extend the bed down the aisle.
All you really need is to shorten your stock table on the stock bed or not use the filler on the wide bed, then add a 30" wide piece of 3/4" plywood of sufficient length with a leg to support it in the aisle.

Thank you Floyd. I built the cutout section today. Did a test fit and all went well. I think this will make big improvement for comfort.
