The newer section with sites 200-288 is where most of the "action" is. Donna is correct, while the old section is nice and woodsy it can be dismal with no sun and/or rain. I just checked and there are quite a few good sites still available. 278 where Chuck and Deb are is the gathering spot.

What does it mean when it says pad slope is "severe"? I am looking at 277, 281, and some others that are available....

Not exactly sure what that means but I do know that Mike Price camped in his Casita in 277 for years with no issues that I know of. And, it's right around the corner from the bathroom!

Thanks! Booked Site # 277 for June 5-8... Thanks everyone for your help.
I am not good at backing in but usually there is someone there who will help me. ;-)

I believe you may be correct. I couldn't remember if it was 278 or 280, but they're right next to each other. 280 is a "drive thru" site and 278 almost shares the same paved site entry from the loop road, (and I'm just a couple of spots down in 282.)

That refers to the "levelness" of the site. Most sites are very level, but there are a few that may have slightly sloping surfaces, which may require a bit of extra trailer leveling. Don't let it scare you though. Having been there many times, I can say that there are no really bad sites, and you are probably looking at a few inches one way or the other. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep, I also got their notice of cancellation for any reservations through June 15th, so it's off the list!

I'm not expecting to go camping for a year, at least. I'm a prime candidate for the Covid 19 death stats. I'll wait for a vaccine.

If you have not already gotten your cancellation notice from TP you soon will. The thought crossed my mind about just moving it to later on in the summer but then decided it wasn't really worth it on a number of fronts. In looking at the campground map there were a lot of red dots throughout the summer from folks who had already made reservations a long time ago. Whether or not more cancellations will be coming or not remains to be seen. It would be really tough to find enough spots for all of us with that uncertainty. The C-19 business is also a concern and I would rather play it safe keeping everyone healthy and not have to worry about every step you take and how close you are to one another. Sooooooo we're going to bag the gathering for this year and look forward to a great time the first weekend in June 2021. Be safe everyone.....

I was rather surprised to get the cancellation notice as hopefully Governor Inslee will start relaxing some of the sheltering in place and camping would be part of it. Especially in June.

But oh well, better safe than sorry. And yep, there's next year.

Fingers crossed fall reservations will happen!

Some state campground opened in Washington State June 1. Taidnapam is not a Washington State Campground. It's owned by Tacoma Power, the Parks & Recreation Department.

When did Tacoma Power open their parks? Was it after the gathering was supposed to be held? That was 20 days ago... a lot happens due to Covid-19 in 20 days.

Taidnapum 2020

No mystery there Carolyn-nothing odd or frustrating about it. Taidnapum re-opened and was taking reservations from June 15th on. Our annual gathering was a few weeks prior to that.
