2020, Sep 11-13: #9 Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble

UPDATE - The 9th annual Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble is still happening for 2020 at Algonac State Park in Michigan's thumb, Dates: Fri Sept 11-Sun Sept 13. (but many reserve for longer timeframes)
Website: https://www.midnrreservations.com/
NEW MAP (9-8/20). We still have 34-ish trailers attending, despite the (sad) cancellations we've had. Next year, Algonac Peeps, we celebrate.
AGENDA CHANGE - The Agenda for this year is being modified based on advise from the CDC for a large group gathering, as well as advise from other experienced Rally Managers. The Agenda is focused on maintaining social distancing, limiting large groups to 10 or less, hand washing, recommending masks in close proximity, etc. Everyone is encouraged to take precautions that will ensure that all of us have a fun and safe time together.
The weekend will be a 'Camping Together but Apart' kind of weekend. Large gathering events such as Thursday Dinner Out, the Pot Luck Gift Exchange, and Friday Meet&Greet are cancelled (sad ).
Swap N Sell - Check out post #68 for more details.
Looking forward to seeing you in September!

Hoping to be there in site 74 again after missing last year. Right now, we plan to come over on the 10th and stay until the 15th. Then, we'll head over to the Niagara Wine Rally for the first time. Retirement is grand!

I'm thinking of something like Cindy and Kevin.
I don't know that part of Ontario at all and am wondering about the interim between the two rallies.
Is there any place in between that would be stopping to visit? Even stop over for a day or two?
Is there a route between the two that would be more scenic and enjoyable than a beeline along the 403?
Those can be separate issues or a combo.

Thanks and hope to see you all.

So far I've been to Eggfest in Coburg once and both Niagara Escape and Ont. Bolerama each twice and have enjoyed all.

Right now we are thinking that we'll just drive the entire way over between the rally sites (about 230 miles) and have more time in the Niagara Falls area. We love to visit old forts! Sorry that I don't know more about that part of Canada.

Even so, is there a backroad route worth taking?
I don't mind the expressways, but it would be a shame to miss a nice scenic or rustic spot while in that part.

Walt

Pam's Suggestion - Bruce Peninsula Area! Niagra Escarpment! and Tobermory if you have time!

It is about a 4 hour drive through Canada from Algonac to Riverside CG. so you could stay a couple of days after the rally and arrive a couple of days early at the other rally.

Well this makes it official, it is time to start thinking about next years camping! Planning on going. Looking forward to seeing folks again.

Going to be picking peoples brains about BLM camping out west in preparation for retirement trip. Still a couple years off but planning is half the fun. Planning also seldom involves mosquitoes, black flies, or scorpions.

Jim, that's clear, but not a response to my request for ideas on some shouldn't miss places on the way over.

I know Alf lives near Catherine, On with is on the way, you can p/m him for some hints. There is the Welland Canal which is interesting to observe but I'm not aware of another site wirth stopping to see in between. I know heading north from Riverside is Niagara on the Lake a cute little town and several wineries to tour in between.

Yep Love NOTL, and some of those wineries are quite nice.

Going to look at sites..... I so enjoyed last year. It was my first and everyone was very social. I guess that is what happens when you get a bunch of egg heads in a campground..lol

I'm interested in attending. Which campground is the rally held at? The park has two campgrounds.

I’m moving to Indianapolis in March to be near my son and his family but that won’t keep me away. I’ve been to all the Algonac rallies and will continue to go until my body won’t allow it. I’m an old fart and will keep on........
