2020, Sep 11-13: #9 Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble

Off we go - Another Glassic Scramble is in the works for 2020.

Algonac State Park - Sept 11-13 - Riverfront Campground
The Rally MAP is in this post! I will updated it as people post their reservations to this thread. Be sure to give me your site #, names (partners, give me both names) as well as your camper/year/ size. NOTE - You can reserve up to 6 months out, so if you plan to arrive on Friday Sept 11, you can reserve on March 11. River front sites go SUPER FAST. Be online by 8am to have the best chance for riverfront or river view sites.

20120 is the 9th year for the Algonac Glassic Egg Scramble!
Dates: Fri Sept 11-Sun Sept 13.

(But we always seem to arrive sooner and stay longer than these dates and that's ok!)

Overall Agenda-ish:
Friday night meet and greet at my site at 7:30
Saturday night pot luck at 6:00-ish.

I have an alternate way for pot luck this year rather than everyone to wait in a long line. More details later.
Prize Draw after potluck. Bring an unwrapped prize and we will draw site numbers for winners
As always, lots of free time to visit and explore.
We will be having a trade and swap at the shelter in the afternoon! Bring stuff to sell, or just bring cash for buying! More details later
Thursday Night Dinner - we FILLED up the restaurant Foxfire Fixings last year and had a very nice meal. We are planning on doing that again this year for whoever wants to attend. More details in the future.

There is a Facebook group for this rally as well. Just ask to join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/MichiganAlgonacEggScramble/

Hoping to be there in site 74 again after missing last year. Right now, we plan to come over on the 10th and stay until the 15th. Then, we'll head over to the Niagara Wine Rally for the first time. Retirement is grand!

I'm thinking of something like Cindy and Kevin.
I don't know that part of Ontario at all and am wondering about the interim between the two rallies.
Is there any place in between that would be stopping to visit? Even stop over for a day or two?
Is there a route between the two that would be more scenic and enjoyable than a beeline along the 403?
Those can be separate issues or a combo.

Thanks and hope to see you all.

So far I've been to Eggfest in Coburg once and both Niagara Escape and Ont. Bolerama each twice and have enjoyed all.

Right now we are thinking that we'll just drive the entire way over between the rally sites (about 230 miles) and have more time in the Niagara Falls area. We love to visit old forts! Sorry that I don't know more about that part of Canada.

Even so, is there a backroad route worth taking?
I don't mind the expressways, but it would be a shame to miss a nice scenic or rustic spot while in that part.

It is about a 4 hour drive through Canada from Algonac to Riverside CG. so you could stay a couple of days after the rally and arrive a couple of days early at the other rally.

Well this makes it official, it is time to start thinking about next years camping! Planning on going. Looking forward to seeing folks again.

Going to be picking peoples brains about BLM camping out west in preparation for retirement trip. Still a couple years off but planning is half the fun. Planning also seldom involves mosquitoes, black flies, or scorpions.

Jim, that's clear, but not a response to my request for ideas on some shouldn't miss places on the way over.

I know Alf lives near Catherine, On with is on the way, you can p/m him for some hints. There is the Welland Canal which is interesting to observe but I'm not aware of another site wirth stopping to see in between. I know heading north from Riverside is Niagara on the Lake a cute little town and several wineries to tour in between.

Yep Love NOTL, and some of those wineries are quite nice.

Going to look at sites..... I so enjoyed last year. It was my first and everyone was very social. I guess that is what happens when you get a bunch of egg heads in a campground..lol

I'm interested in attending. Which campground is the rally held at? The park has two campgrounds.
