2021, Aug 23-26: (FULL) 2021 Rocky Mountain Fiberglass Rendezvous

Note: registration is CLOSED, as campground/rally capacity has been reached

The 8th annual Rocky Mountain Fiberglass Rendezvous will be held at the Mogote group campground, in the cool Colorado Rockies 14 miles west of Antonito, in south central Colorado from Monday, August 23rd to Thursday, August 26th.

All fiberglass trailer owners are welcomed.

In addition to the usual happy hours, potluck dinners, book and RV stuff trading, etc. going on, there's good fishing in the nearby Conejos River. The Cumbres & Toltec narrow gauge railroad also offers scenic rides daily from nearby Antonito.

For more information visit:

www.RockyMtnFiberglassRendezvous.com

We hope to see you in August!

Sounds interesting. If the pandemic allows we may be in the area around that time.
Is there much in the way of home made music around the fire pits?
Looking for fun gatherings where picking abounds. I'm always amazed when people offer that they play but did not bring an instrument. If I'm leaving home without a mandolin I turn around and there they sit in the driveway begging to tag along.

Bill in Pittsburgh: Great idea, Bill! I'll add to the website that folks should bring their musical instruments. (As you can see by the photo on the Rendezvous' website, we do occasionally have folks "picking" on instruments.)

Attending and railroad info request

Colleen and I plan to attend this rally and taking the railroad trip.

If others are planning the railroad excursion, which tickets are you getting
coach ($105), deluxe ($164), or parlor cars ($206)?

reservations are available directly from the railroad: https://cumbrestoltec.com

Scenic Train Info

We booked today for the Parlor Car as well. She said that due to COVID they only have 10 people on the car and that we are getting the last 2 seats.

I inquired as to the turn around stop for the return, she told me it is at Osier, CO.

Also, for anyone unsure of taking the train trip, no charge cancellations are allowed up to 48 hours in advance.

I am wondering if anyone knows the possibility of cell service (Verizon) in this campground? Colleen works regularly in the trailer with a Verizon Jetpack. Thanks

I wish the spreadsheet of people coming had a column for where they are coming from. What city and state they live in.

On another forum a guy posted that there was no cell phone service of any type.

Good idea, Kathi. I'll add that to the sign up for next year. (Since I'm very untrained at these google sites, I don't want to tinker with it for this year and screw anything up!)

There are two small group sites, connected by a short path. This year the Forest Service says they'll be capping attendance in the group sites at 50 folks. That being the case, we're suggesting folks who sign up now, make individual reservations in the reservable individual sites, then come on over!

Yes. When we visited the Mogote CG last fall, I didn't see any cell service. We do have a Weboost on our Escape trailer, but since we were just passing thru, didn't try it so see if there might be a weak cell signal.

Antonio is about 14 miles from the CG, which probably has cell service.

I'm confused. Is it too late to sign up? The Mogote gummit site says the campground is closed. Is it possible to take a chance on a cancellation and walk in?

MyronL: It doesn’t surprise me that the campground might currently be closed. It’s at about 8,000’ elevation, in the trees. There might still be snow. Or at least very wet, muddy conditions. I don’t know.

At this point we’re recommending that folks who want to come and haven’t previously signed up, reserve a single campsite, and then come on over to the group sites to join in on the fun.

Continue to check our website for updates: www.RockyMtnFiberglassRendezvous.com

Well... Assuming some of the folks who have signed up as "yes's", in the website won't come, and some of the folks signed up as "maybe's" will, it appears we are pretty much filled up the group campsites for this year's Rendezvous considering the Forest Service's Covid cap of 50 participatants. But... It's a small campground, and as today's date there are still many single reservable sites. So, if you're not already signed up, but would like to come, make a single site reservation, then sign up on our website (www.RockyMtnFiberglassRendezvous.com) indicating such in the Comments and come over and join in the fun!

There is a private campground near by. I believe $3.00 to dump.
