Welcome aboard Wolfords. I look forward to meeting you. So far post #1 still has all the pertinent info, till we learn more about how the COVID will affect things, or hopefully not.

Walt: Can you call me with info. I am interested in attending for SkyMed Takes You Home Services. I would offer to sponsor a breakfast or an ice cream social and bring everyone up to date on the SkyMed benefits. I also have a drawing for some prizes including a Deam Week Vacation. I can be reached at 920-918-9923

Hi Lowell, good to have you aboard, both on the forum and at the rally.
Actually there's no formal registration for the rally. All you need to do is reserve a site at the park and let us know, here on the forum. We all look forward to meeting you.
And please keep monitoring this thread. As it gets closer there will be important information posted.

Thanks Lowell and again welcome. If you've read through the thread, you'll know most of us will be at Burson about 2 miles away, but Creekside is a really pretty little campground.

Walt, can you tell me about the non-specific sites? According to the website, there are non-specific sites still available in Burson CG, where they will assign you a site upon arrival. Creekside still has specific sites to choose from (not many of either left right now).

Hi Bill. Not much to tell you about the non-specific sites. I don't know why or how they decide but they are just as nice as any others. Actually that's what I have too.
And Burson is where most of us will be.
If you have any questions I'll try to answer them but they are not particularly different.

Not a FG owner anymore but have camped at HM (Creek Sites) lots of times. I only live 43 miles from there. They have specific sites and non specific. All the sites are nice but mainly the creek and end are the specific ones. Harder to park some larger RV’s along the creek but FG won’t have any problems at all in any sites. Great Story about the park. “The Legend of Hungry Mother”

Legend has it that when the Native Americans destroyed several settlements on the New River south of the park, Molly Marley and her small child were among the survivors taken to the raiders’ base north of the park. They eventually escaped, wandering through the wilderness eating berries. Molly finally collapsed, and her child wandered down a creek until the child found help. The only words the child could utter were "Hungry Mother." The search party arrived at the foot of the mountain where Molly collapsed to find the child's mother dead. Today that mountain is Molly’s Knob, and the stream is Hungry Mother Creek.

With the rally just a bit more than a month off it's time for an update.
As we all know, the pandemic is still more active than we'd hoped at this time, largely due to the Delta variant and the vaccine not as well distributed as it should be.
As a result once again the park is not able to offer the bus to the VA Creeper Trail ride. It's still possible to do the ride on your own though, as a few did last year.
Also we can't do the group dinner at The Harvest Table as we'd hoped.
As a result of these changes I'm going to change the Cowboy Stew and SUMI Salad offering to Saturday Evening.
I don't have a good idea of attendance, but I just checked and the park is full that weekend so I hope that's a good sign.
I'm attaching a copy of park activities for October, and it looks like there may be a couple of interest.

See y'all soon.

Walt

Hi Julie. If you can find a site we'd love to meet you.
No, there won't be anyone there specifically to work on repairs or mods, but there's usually lots of experience, advice, and help available.

Hope to see you there.
