VA | 2025, Oct 23-26: Hungry Mother Rally

The date has been set for the 2025 Hungry Mother Rally and reservations are open! The Rally will be from October 23 - 26, 2025, though some are coming earlier and staying later.

It will again be at Camp Burson in Hungry Mother State Park (VA). However, this year the park will NOT be setting aside any sites and reservations must be made through the regular reservation system (first come, first serve):

Deb and I (Steve) registered yesterday for site 4, Thursday through Monday.

This will be our first Hungry Mother Rally. Do we need to register elsewhere, or let whomever is organizing the event know we're coming? Is there are cost. Any suggestions for a newly would be appreciated.

I requested to join the Facebook group in early October, but no response yet. Can someone mention to the admin of the group to approve Steve Morris?

Welcome, Steve (and Deb)!

There is no cost other than folks making their own campground reservations. We usually have a potluck dinner one evening. The rally is a pretty laid back affair and other than the potluck there isn’t a schedule or any pre-set activities. Folks will sometimes get together in smaller groups and do activities in the area (riding the Virginia Creeper trail or doing hikes in the park are common activities).

I’m not on Facebook but will relay any important information here. Walt is the admin of the Facebook group and has had some personal matters to deal with recently, but I’m sure he’ll get to the approvals when he has a chance.

Thank you, Mike. That sounds like my kind of event; getting to know people and enjoying the area, rather than having all day every day filled with programs and always too busy.
