March "Gathering"

Any word 0n a GE&H FOR MID MARCH 2021.

If there is nothing planed, anywhere, is anyone interested in another GATHERING without a host, at Gunner Hill?

A couple of us have been talking about going there March 17-21-2021 as St Patrick's day is March 17/2021.

Yes to Scrambled Eggs

Hi, Kip! We are definitely planning to return to Gunter Hill in March. Last year's "gathering" was lots of fun and very relaxing! Haven't seen a peep about Green Eggs here or on the Casita Forum so who knows?

Hey y'all,

Good to see y'all are still in the race, and hopefully well.

Planned dates are Wed 03/17 thru Sunday 03/21. We will hopefully Get the same sites as last year.

Hopefully The park will be open and hopefully there will be an effective vaccine by then. But whatever the winds bring, we plan to be there, unless something really devastating comes along.

Ann and I will be armed with mask and gloves. And, very important, a means to sterilize the site when we get there, as soon as we back in. We got a small half gallon pump up sprayer, and will load it with a mixture of Clorox and water. ( 2TBS Clorox per Quart of water) will spray the power and water post, dump area, and table & benches before setting up camp. Then anything we think and might touch at our site.

As far as an official GE&H RALLY goes, it would be difficult to do that while maintaining social distancing. St Patrick day is 7 months away. so a lot could happen by then.

Later,
kip

We haven’t been to GEH for two years but would be interested in heading down that way. Assume you’d be staying near the main pavilion on “paved” side?

Hey Jim,
Ann and I will be camping on the Catoma Loop. There will also be folks camping at the Antioch loop, as that loop is more like camping was in days of yore. They can feel comfortable doing that, as they wont be missing out on any planned Pavilion activities.

Keep in mind that this is a GATHERING and there are no activities planned and NO HOST, as it was last year. .

So trying to gather near the Pavilion most likely wont be, or need to be, a priority.

All concerned will need to return to the way it was in the past, when campers actually met our neighbors. And we engaged in conversations where we can vicariously visit all over this wonderful country, thru our neighbor's stories, and visa versa. And we discuss which tug is best and which Camper trailer is best. Didn't see any fist fights, so all went well!

Last year most of the "reserve" sites were slowly taken by the 1st of March.
Then that area got super bad weather and many of the sites were flooded. Many reservations were cancelled by the park and up until a couple of days before the beginning of the Gathering, there was talk of the Entire Park being closed. But this resilient bunch of folks hung tough and those that got cancelled reserved open sites. The park did not close, and the stories that were told will likely be a topic of conversation for years to come. I don't remember the number of Rigs that ended up there, but it was near 50 +/-.

I personally gained a new and lasting appreciation for all the souls that make up this group of campers. We met more couples last year than we had met in the several prior years combined.

We were left to our own devices and flourished. This year might be a tad different with folks wearing mask, and not hugging, but we will survive.

All that to say "come join us"!

BTW, Jean C. said she is coming, and suggested making the GATHERING for the entire week, Sunday to Sunday, as St Patrick's day falls on Wednesday the 17th. Makes sense, and will likely be several doing that. So anyone coming early can expect to see others there.

Gathering Info on Casita forum

I just put info on the Casita site in case someone looks there. It's at the bottom of the list under "Other" as I couldn't access the official Green Eggs and Ham listing. Hopefully people will respond here on Fiberglass RV and we can keep a running tally on who and what site. Hope to see lots of you in March!

Yes sir,

Reservations went a lot slower last time. Impromptu gatherings of like minded people can be fun.

Hey Holly,

Is it a good idea for you and Linda to be next door neighbors? She just might persuade you to get a Big Foot.

Glad you will be there, BTW that door window you made for Richard and Janet is beautiful !
I understand he had to install it twice. Good thing it was s good fit.

Some if the dates are questionable, but it appears there are 35-40 reservations that may belong to this group.

Appears that of the 75 reservable sites on the Catoma loop, only 24 are still available for that week.

Only a couple of sites have been reserved on the Antioch loop.

Look forward to meeting y'all. Nice park and sites, and good bike riding. No host but lots of friendly people. What is your home state?

Marilyn and I will be there at site 74 this year. This year we're not even thinking about trying to go to Ireland for St Patrick's day like we planned last year. That trip got cancelled the day we were supposed to get on the airplane.
Kip, you won't get to see our Scamp that you looked at before you bought your Casita many years ago, since we will be in the new Escape we picked up last month.
