Hello everyone,

I was wandering through the garden/barbeque section of wally-world today in search of a lightweight grill , I stumbled on a product I didn't know existed. Apparently it's meant to replace aluminum foil on top of either a round (13") or rectangular small portable grill. Called a disposable grill topper, it's made by a company called Oscarware. Made of expanded aluminum mesh, I thought there might be enough heft to the product (it is flexible), that if I came up with two lightweight steel/aluminum rods to support it, it might do the trick over a small fire of briquets, and last a few times before disposal. At $1 a copy, figure it's worth a try, the downside being it might melt into our hamburgers which might ruin the flavor not to mention make them hard to chew.

george,

if you are talking about the round item i use under pizza in the oven and burgers on the grill, it is pretty tough but i can't see any way it would hold up on only two supports. it is too flimsy and when hot it bends easily. now if you could use a tripod arrangement, maybe you've got something there. maybe a planter ring from the garden section. they are sometimes available in various heights. but, then you have to carry a plant tripod around.
