Bemco Backpackers Oven

Bemco ® Oven Specs

Has anyone tried one yet, Bought an 8" but its been too cold to try it out. It folds flat and is easy to setup.

Looks interesting. I don't have one. There are several how-to videos on Youtube.

I found this statement amusing:
"NOTE: the oven is only to be used with stoves that do NOT have the fuel tank attached."

Now where am I going to find a stove that works without a fuel tank attached?

(Okay, okay... Pretty sure they meant not to use the kind of backpacking stove that attaches directly to the top of the fuel tank.)

I have made many a fresh pizza in the backcountry while canoeing with my Outback Oven. It is oh so yummy. It too must use a stove with the fuel not connected directly to the burner.

Fresh risen crust pizza, with pesto sauce, rehydrated sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and sausage. When cold like it was when I took these photos, the dough rode the day under my clothes to keep it warm and rising. This is before she went in the oven.

My lovely bride doing some prep work, slicing up the tomatoes.

Cooking on the stove. Not the bottle to the side.

The final product.

Enjoyment, or should I say ecstasy.

Well it finally warmed up up here in Edmonton. Dug out the Coleman propane stove and the Bemco oven. My wife mixed up a Betty Crocker brownie mix to test it out. It sets up very quickly and the 8" is wide enough for the grill on the coleman. It took about 2 minutes to get up to 350 and in when the brownie mix. Keeping the heat stable was no problem and the burner was just above off position to maintain the tempurature. The package said about 30-35 minutes but I think we had a a smaller pan than they recommended and it took about 50 minutes to get the center cooked. It worked great! and no burnt edges or anything. Went good with supper.

All in all very pleased with the first attempt and the product. BRING ON THE CAMPING!
