Thermos Thermal (Slow) Cooker
These are Very Spendy, but have a look at the Thermos Thermal Cooker. I've never used one, never seen one on t.v., but it's an interesting concept and would allow you to hike all day and have some kind of dinner almost ready when you return.
For What It's Worth, I thought we had a thread on here where folks talked about these things, but I could not find it. (oh, Donnnnnna!)

The only manifold cooking I have done was a little limberger cheese
on the manifold of an unsuspecting non-friend. Of course, that was
back when a person could see a manifold. I can't even see an engine
in the newer cars.

I have one version of these and they work very well. Put the contents in the pot bring to a boil then remove the pot from the stove and put into the storage container. works on the same context as a thermos bottle. the insulated container keeps the heat and food keeps on cooking much like a slow cooker. Food with a high liquid mass works extremely well. Soups, pasta and sauces, chili and stews. At the end of your day the temperature as dropped some and you are ready to eat.

Slow cooking while boondocking is best done with a Dutch oven. No inverters, no stove left on while you are away hiking, no Lp cookers left un attended. There are tons of recipes over the last 80 years that you can easily make, go for a hike, swim,nap and come back to a safely cooked delicious meal that takes very little skill and time to prepare. Leave the crockpot at home, this is camping and enjoying the outdoors.

I just ordered a 120 watt portable solar charger. I wanted portable because I camp out of my van as much as the Casita, more so off the grid. The portable charger should help keep me charged up on the house battery in what ever I take. I could even use as an emergency charger for the tow vehicle battery if it came to that. I don't think it would run a crock pot itself but it would at least let you start the evening with a full charge assuming there is some sunshine. (-:}
I still prefer a dutch oven and a little charcoal.
Charger

This thread has been dormant for a few weeks, but maybe an old fashioned hay box would work, using the propane to bring your pot to a full boil for a couple of minutes first. I also use a Dutch oven, the iron 3 qt Lodge brand with the 3 legs.
