I thought I'd share a cookie recipe that is a big Christmas favorite around our house.
Not Mrs. Fields' Chocolate Chip Cookies
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup flour
1 1/4 cup oatmeal (mix in blender until it turns to powder, measure first, then blend)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 (6 oz.) bag of chocolate chips (1 cup)
2 ounces milk chocolate, grated (I run 14 Hershey's kisses through the blender)
3/4 cup nuts, chopped
Cream butter and sugars. Add egg and vanilla. Mix together flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and soda. Combine wet and dry ingredients and add chocolate chips, grated chocolate, and nuts. Make golf ball-sized coolies and bake on ungreased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart, for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees F. Do not overbake. Makes about 2 dozen.
