this brings up one of my pet peeves. we say to our children, if your naughty you don't get a Christmas present, but does anyone really do this? I think not. it would ruin the little tikes Christmas, not that he/she thought about that when he/she was being naughty. maybe we should be more like the parents in the song by stev? stevy? oh the skunk song guy. I'm get-en nuh-en for Christmas. I ain't been nuh-en but bad.
Course I can say this, as I'm a grandma, and different rules apply

Pam and I actually gave the kids lumps of coal one Christmas.

We did it as a joke.

The kids had never seen coal.

Hmmm, speaking of which ... I wonder if a lump or two in a campfire would burn better than the green wood I always seem to buy!

A lump or two of coal works well. Just go down in the coal cellar and get a couple and try them.
