Duct Tape Forever

In case Steve L and I are the only Red Green fans ... our local PBS station screened the Red Green movie, Duct Tape Forever, a couple of nights ago.

I really enjoyed it.

Red Green, as you know, is the head of the Possum Lodge.

The lodge, in Canada, is about "147 liquor stores" north of the border.

It's for men, only. Sorry ladies.

And the Possum Lodge motto: Quando Omni Flunkus Moritati (In case all else fails, play dead!) reflects the group's work ethic (which I, too, take to heart!).

But in the movie, Duct Tape Forever, the group decided to enter a Duct Tape sculpture contest ... to help pay some new court costs and fines.

They knew they would never win 1st or 2nd place, but figured they had a chance at winning the US$10,000 3rd place.

Check your local listings for Duct Tape Forever.

I won't give away the plot (ok, actually, there's not much of a plot), but one line struck me too close to home.

As our hero's were hauling their sculpture to Minnesota, Red Green decided to stop at a motel for the night.

Why?

"I don't like driving at night. You can't see what you're hitting."

The movie, Duct Tape Forever, is available on DVD.

Asked about the new technology, Red Green said:

Up here at Possum Lodge, we have our own rules about technology: 'If you're standing in a puddle, don't touch anything that hums,' and 'Don't trust anything that has no moving parts. Especially if it's a relative.'

Thanks, Charles!

I've wondered for years why it was I couldn't ''get into'' (watching) that program. Now you tell me, it's a guy thing!

I'll just go back to watching sports on t.v. (March Madness is upon us!)

Red Green

No ladies allowed to come into the Possum Lodge except via the Tele, so that's how I go.

Only get to catch an episode ever so often as they run it here on late night (weekend). I'll have to see if I can find Duct Tape Forever. Never know when I might be able to pick up a new idea or two, eh?

Comedies

Ooh! Duct Tape Forever on DVD. I'm there. I missed the screening on TV but I can tell I need to add it to my selection of DVDs I travel with. If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Sums up my relations with the finer sex.

I'm working on my Top 20 titles. Here's my listing so far in order of my preference:

1 Blazing Saddles
2 Airplane
3 Caddyshack
4 Catch 22
5 Spaceballs
6 Play It Again, Sam
7 1941
8 Frankenstein
9 The Russians Are Coming
10 One Flew Over The Cookoo's Nest
11 Police Story
12 Monty Python's Search For The Holy Grail
13 Fatal Instinct
14 Hot Shots
15 Princess Bride
16 Murder By Death
17 Animal House
18 Blues Brothers
19 How I Learned To Love The Bomb (Dr. Strangelove)
20 Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World

Honorable mention to M*A*S*H and Harold and Maude

Am I missing any obvious ones?

For a real "guy thing" movie try "A Boy And His Dog"
