A reporter was interviewing people on the street in Seattle.
He asked a little boy, "Does it ever quit raining here?"
The little boy looked at him like he was a dunce, "How would I know, I'm only six."

Frederick..it's not funny I no longer have a grass lawn...it's all moss. My skin is water logged wrinkled too. AND, I don't live in Seattle...I'm a couple hundred miles south in Portland. We've had one non-rain day since December 17! Notice, that's different than a sunny day
okay I'll quit being a whinner. I know the folks in Oklahoma and Texas are suffering from the opposite end of the water spectrum. I REALLY wish we could share.

But... you don't have to mow moss. Think of the bright side...
...er, never mind.

Donna, you aren't the only one wishing for that one! We aren't wishing any more though, we are praying. We are 14" behind in our average yearly waterfall..............which is normally just barely enough to keep things green from spring through early fall. Our entire state is a tenderbox. It is so dry here that we are extremely aware when an old tractor backfires because it could start another fire. Please, please.............send some of your excess over to us.

Boy, I wish we could. We've over 2/3 of our normal annual rain fall. Rain year is Oct. to Oct. At this rate we'll soon have 6/3 of normal. Houses are slidding off hills, hills are sliding onto roads and we're all getting grumpy.
A little and we'd all feel better.
Now to figure out how to share this rain a bit.

Grumpy? You don't know Grumpy.
My English friend sent me this about the deluge of water falling from the sky in London recently.
"The British are feeling the inconvinience in relation to recent torrential rain storms and have raised their frustration levels from "Miffed" to "Peeved." Soon, though, frustration levels may be raised yet again to "Irritated" or even "A Bit Cross."
Londoners have not been "A Bit Cross" since the blitz in 1940 when tea supplies all but ran out.
Eventually, these never ending downpours will have to be re-categorised from "Tiresome" to a "Bloody Nuisance."
The last time the British issued a "Bloody Nuisance" warning level was during the great fire of 1666."

More wet weather woes... here's a photo of a few homes in our neighborhood after a dike failed over New Years (due to heavy rain and very high tides). Several vehicles and trailers were also trapped in the flood and were swamped up to their windows.

I know everyone is getting tired of hearing from the PNW whinners. But Byron is right, we've gotten 12.67 inches of rain in the past 29 days...that's 1/3 of our usual rainfall for the ENTIRE year. AND, there is no end in sight.....rain for at least the next 10 days...that's as far as the weather forecasters predict out.
Our parking lot at work today was a feast for all the seagulls that have blown in from the coast. The ground is so wet, even the earthworms are coming out of the earth seeking someplace drier. The asphalt was a squirming, wiggling mass of worms...and the birds were partying it up!

Thanks for your sympathies Gina - it is a tough time for these folks...
The broken dike resulted in flooding of the lowlands throughout our neighborhood, including this RV that looks like it was underwater nearly up to the windshield. Is there any possibility for salvaging a flooded RV like this one? A few years ago, another neighbor reported that flood waters caused his 13 ft Casita to float around in his driveway, and that the water eventually made its way in through the door. At least we know that the fiberglass eggs will float for a while in the event of a major flood!

Wow this thread has become very serious.
My light hearted jokes must have hit a sore spot, I apologize for my insensitivity.

Pay it forward?
I know there are briliant minds out there (this IS FGRV!) as we speak, figuring out
1. A way to deal with this problem (with a little help from on-lookers) and
2. How to post the results here with a photo (sometimes even more difficult!).
We are thinking of wind farms in my neighbourhood, for example. Any experienced wind-farmers out there?

nah Morgan...no sore spots and you weren't being insensitive. I feel worse for those folks in Oklahoma and Texas to tell you the truth (and those REALLY suffering from water damage.) I just happen to really dislike rain that comes on end...But, there's a reason Oregon is soooo green. I just wish it wasn't happening all at once.
[b]NOT to get political, but if a terrorist organization really wanted to do damage, they'd figure out a way to manipulate the WEATHER.
