You're missing a light wire?? I only see 2, ground through the ball takes care of the 4th. And who wants to be dragging a trailer by the chains if it comes unhooked, Call a wrecker to pull it out of the ditch, then call your insurance company.

Glad to see you didn't,t spend
a dollar on a safety pin to put through the hitch connector.

Where can I purchase some of that heavy duty duct / hitch tape?

Duct tape and a piece of wire wrapped around the coupler latch overrides the need for a safety pin! I remember seeing a video where a guy made a whole camper out of duct tape, and the Mythbusters made a boat so duct tape alone should be plenty to hold the latch closed.

A camper out of duct tape - Wouldn't that be similar to a roach motel with the sticky side on the inside - you can check in but you can't check out?

Once saw a trailer tongue that had rusted through. The owner duct taped a baseball bat on each side to hold it together. And my brother-in-law wondered why I wouldn't tow it home for him!

Correct me if I am wrong but that red line holding the latch down appears to be binder twine not the correct and approved red vinyl clad soft copper wire.

In case of accident I hope you wore gloves so there are no fingerprints trapped in the duct tape, always better to be safe than sorry.

I saw youtubes of the duct tape camper and the duct tape boat.
Pretty ingenius, but Duct Tape is an expensive luxury for me.
I liked welding car hoods together back in the day.

Went duck hunting on several occasions in a boat made out of 2 hoods from 195? pickup trucks. A little roof tar on the weld , a coat of dark leftover paint and off we would go. Not real stable in rough water but it worked

More on the home made boat subject. Back in the 60's a friends brother took a big round gas station sign, may have been Gulf, it was double sided and hollow, sort of like two bowls put together, and cut a hole in the center of one side so he could sit in it. Now today that old gas station stuff can be quite valuable, but back then it wasn't collectible and only worth scrap value.

A great place to honor the great Shel Silverstein...

"HOMEMADE BOAT"

"This boat we just built is just fine-
And don't try to tell us it's not.
The sides and the back are divine-
It's the bottom I guess we forgot...."
