I Get it!!

:ola

Cool pictures Lex! The event looked like it was fun!

How many "tiles" did they need to cover that "structure"? and What do they represent?

Oh, and clever hint!

Me too!

:ola :ola

I got it too. It's very clever and beautifully done. Is it winter Olympic teams, Lex? Possibly a "bridge" to past Olympic winter events. Where is it located?

The answer

Because it is a long time ago since the last reply, the answer is:

A bridge is tiled.
It can be seen on the second url of my sig. Click a thumbnail to enlarge.

For the lazy ;)

Story of Bridge

Lex,

I think others would be interested in the explanation of the bridge tiles and the event it commemorates. I found the link you sent to be very interesting.

Story of the bridge

Info on the bridge:
On June 22nd, 2001, Henk Kroes, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Vereniging, unveiled the Elfstedenmonument on the Canterlandsebridge made by the artists Maree Blok and Bas Lughthart. The monument contains fourthousand tiles on which the pictures of Elfstedenskaters are shown. The tiles are attached to the bridge. From a distance the tiles show a row of skaters. The Canterlandsebridge is the last bridge the skaters pass before finishing the tour. It is situated on the road between the Friesian villages Gytsjerk en Lekkum. The monument is accessible for visitors.
-----------

The 11stedentocht (11 towns tour) is a 200 km speed skating tour.
If you are interested, this is an url with info:
http://www.elfstedentocht.nl/
Click on the British flag in the right upper corner.
The tour is very famous in the Netherlands, especially in Friesland of course.
All canals and lakes have to be frozen for some weeks before the tour can take place.
If, there are something like 15000 participants, 100000's of people along the route and the rest of the people before the TV.
