This is one thing that is a bonus about living in Calgary. We are at about 1,000 meters (3,500 feet), and evenings in the summer cool down nice, which makes for great sleeping. Whenever I have been out east, in areas where temps don't go down to the same degree, plus humidity is real high, it makes trying to sleep a nightmare for me, though I am not at all used to it.

Our Canadian dollar is worth, in Canada anyway, a dollar.

Boy, we could sure use your wisdom as a moderator in the "Money Matters" sub-forum. You sure seem to be able to do the math quickly. LOL

Wayne we have had snow on the ground nearly two weeks now, will be cleaning the trailer off this pm and hooking up getting ready to head to our daughter's in KS, but it'll be cold sleeping in it on Thursday night supposed to be minus 7 (19f) in Leavenworth. We're sleeping in the trailer since there will be a house full of people. Looking forward to Jan when we grab the trailer there and head to South Texas for over a month!

We have fish down here. And you won't need your auger to get at them!

Yeah, but can you sit by a campfire as you fish in the middle of a lake? Plus, you get to wear your arm out sipping drinks, as opposed to all that casting.

Last I checked, Florida is no longer a southern state anyway, being that its permanent residents are mostly New Yorkers, Chicagoans and Cubans anyway.
Aren't you a snowbird who forgot how to migrate in the spring?
Even after 50 years I still feel like a displaced southerner up here, but
you are cordially invited to be a Sunbird and come up for a couple of ScampCamps this summer. We'd love to have ya!
In the meantime... Hope to see you in February!

Hmmm, there has to be a joke about a Redneck drinking beer and burning his boat up in there somewhere.

Floyd-
Florida hasn't been a southern state for several decades. We've got a few Michiganders and Mexicans too.
Actually, I'm a transplanted New Hampshirite who decided to be a full time snowbird. Some people like cold. I find heat uncomfortable, but cold painful. Mix in the white stuff and well, I was glad to apply for Florida citizenship.
I had reservations for HH but cancelled them after I sold my Scamp but plan to go down to Sebring to see everyone, perhaps on Wednesday. I do have a new trailer ordered but I won't have it by February.
And I really don't mind the snowbirds at all.

The good part of winter for us is we get to go south. I just replaced the battery and have serviced the water system. Won't be long now.

We got a light dusting of the white stuff here in Tulsa on Sunday. Last night it hit a record low temp for the date of 14 degrees (F). If you're thinking of moving south, better look farther south than here.

Talking A Dollar

For that guy who thinks a dollar is worth a dollar.
I recall when one couldn't carry $5 worth of groceries.
Now one can carry it in a pocket.
My first new car was $2200.
Our first house, on over an acre of land, was $14,900.

Love it when people reminisce about the "good ole days" yet fail to remember the minimum wage was @.85/hour. Comparing a 1950s/1960s dollar to today's dollar is like comparing an FGRV to a stickie, or an apple to an orange. :<)

Right now we're receiving some weather from the good old days, more like the 1970's when scientists were predicting that we were entering an ice age.

Turn south at the intersection . . .

Put the snow tires on yesterday. Must now remember to turn 'south' at the corner.
