Wishing we lived in a warmer climate
I mowed the lawn 4 days ago and woke up to this yesterday morning. Does anyone else have the desire to live in a warmer place?
One of the warmer area's in Canada is the Okanagan Valley. Been there a few times and it is a very nice place. Hummmmmm.

But if it was warm now it would be too hot in the summer. We see a lot of Canadians when we go south for the winter. Come on down.

Bob..... Thnxs for the invite. Seems like the logical thing to do. By the way, what's our Canadian dollar worth these days?

Good grief Wayne, get control of your weather up there and try and keep your cold fronts north of the border, : ) it was 6 degrees here in Kansas last night. At least no snow.

No idea what the Canadian dollar is worth down here, but the running joke is that Florida would be bankrupt if it wasn't for the Canadian snowbirds.

I feel for you... here in NJ at 9:24am its 24' outside. I used to love the cold but since I lost a 100lbs I lost my insulation so I feel it and hate it. I told my 79yo mother that in 20 years if she is still alive when I retire I am strapping her to a hand truck and we are moving south...she just laughed

I hear ya guys. The weather has been crazy this year. I don't even have the snow tires on our vehicles yet. Normally do the switch over end of Nov.
In the pic (post #3) you can see most of the leaves are still on the red maple tree. Two years ago they were on the ground by the end of September.
I will never forget as a young teenager, standing on the wharf at Key West on Christmas Day. Oh what a feeling.

Often we have snow (a 4 letter word) in late Sept so ours have been on awhile

Only a joke among the snowbirds who clog the highways, restaurants, and hospitals. Florida is much more solvent than most of the states in the northeast. It would easily survive financially if all the snowbirds stayed home.
And the exchange rate, which can vary from day-to-day, is easily determined by a Google search.

Winter hit hard here a couple weeks ago now. A month later than last year, so no complaints. Besides, I love the snow, it is so much more beautiful than the drab brownish-grey of the leafless landscape. Plus, we get to ski, skate, snowshoe, build snowmen, snowmobile, ice fish, etc. All things not possible in summer, yet a horde of fun.
What I really like is having a distinctive four seasons, each with their own merit. Fall is my favourite, as I love the crisp fresh air, and temps that don't get to stinking hot.
I choose to embrace winter, as it is going to happen regardless of how much we complain about it.

The Okanagan Valley gets winter just like you do.
Victoria & Vancouver are the only two places that winter normally misses in Canada and there are several year round RV parks.

It is 20°F here this morning. At least we didn't get the 3' of snow that fell in Buffalo. I just checked the web page from my trip last year and at this time I was in Douglas, AZ & it was 78°F. Why am I here?
One big advantage of the West is the ability to control temperature with altitude. Even in the summer gaining a few thousand feet can cool things down. Doesn't work to well here in NY!

Southbound
I leave tomorrow, westbound and then southbound for northern Florida. If I can stick it out I hope to stay until the end of March. I think the only thing I will really miss is the ice fishing. Call it a trade off.

I'm with Jim on this. My kids were out playing in the snow this weekend. I think they get out more in winter then in summer. I remember tobogganing. It's fun.
