When you are down on the floor and you look around to see if there's anything else you can do as long as you are down there.

Rolling out of bed in the morningis no problem. Getting up off the floor is another matter.

Cockpit

Your waiting for takeoff in a KC-135 when the copilot asks, you actually flew in the old 135 steam jets?

When your daughter is older than the age you mentally feel like. (Sigh)

I remember feeling like an adult at 20. Now, one of my granddaughters is 20.

Old enough to be shocked at the thought of it, but not old enough to feel that old. Old enough to be surprised I made it this far, but not old enough to always tell everyone how old I am. Old enough to be ignored by the young girls, but not old enough to ignore them.

Not having any background, I had to look that one up and enjoyed the story!

So, did they get any of it right?

A fairy tale begins "Once upon a time..."

A sea story begins "No bull, this really happened to a shipmate of mine!"

I don't know what the Air Force's equivalent is.

You are older than that if you have been checked out in the DC-3 cabin heater that operated off of steam from the right engine exhaust manifold. It was the copilots job to regulate the beast.
Later they changed to a Janitrol like caught on fire and caused the crash that killed Ricky Nelson.

When you go to shave and suddenly realize there is some old guy with gray whiskers in the mirror and look behind yourself to see him.

When you hit the lock button twice to make your car horn beep so you can find your car in the parking lot, then realize when you eventually spot the tail lights flash that you can't HEAR the dang thing.

When you start a story with... he was using an album cover to clean the seeds out and realize you now have to explain what a record album is and that pot actually has seeds when it doesn't come from a commercial pot store.

Night train

My son in law is 35. One day we were kidding around and the line from the blues brothers came up “That Night Train is mean wine”. My son in law says where did that come from. I said night train was a blues song in the early 50s. He did not know that and was amazed when I bumped up the recording from 1951. He said
How did you know that. I just smiled and said I know lots of stuff, you just have to ask me. Made us better friends and better communicators.
