You know you're getting old when....

I figured I would start this off for some fun!

You shave your ears almost as much as your face!

When you can recall every detail of a trip to the lake with your brother 50 years ago but not where you parked your car at Walmart.

Here in Michigan we just hit our lock button twice an make our car beep, wonder what they do in Florida where they have so many of us in the parking lot all beeping their cars?

1. When one of your former students retires.
2 When the new freshman in your class is the grandson/granddaughter of a former student.

Unfortunately, I've had both...

Old school?

You know you're old when you stop on your travels to visit a school you attended in 4-5 grades and find it is no longer extant and now an Historical Monument!

So much for our visit to Charleston S.C. to look for Porter Military Academy.

Old is relative, but for me it was when 20-somethings started treating me like an adult, like they'd treat a friend of their parents, instead of as a peer.

Took some getting used to, but I have to admit, there aren't many 20 year olds I really want considering me as a peer anymore.

After realizing my glass case is empty, I explain to the teller at the bank that I have to go out to the car to get my glasses, to which she replies " your wearing them". Happened last week!

When you take a favorite fishing reel in to get new line on it and the kid calls his buddy over and says have you ever seen one of these? Then he tells you no charge for the backing line and his buddy tries to buy the reel and they both thank you for bringing it in. And you realize the reel is 50 years old.

When a tree you planted on a traffic island gets hit head on by a drunk driver and the driver dies but the tree is not badly hurt.

When you start sentences with “ 60 years ago “.

Since you brought up schools, Jon, I will add that you know you are getting old when you realize that the young girls on the school playground are actually the teachers.

I saw an episode of antiques roadshow a week or
Two ago a guy had Stratocaster number 48 in very nice condition. The guy said it would bring between 50 and 70K. Gives a whole new meaning to the term music appreciation

Kinda similar here when looking up a house my dad had when I was in second grade (I'm now 41). Looked it up on Google Earth and I remembered the school was right down the road. Found it closed up and part of it is apparently part of a church facility.

Edit to add:
going with the theme of the thread... When I was in the military, or rather when I was retiring... the young folks joining weren't even born yet for a couple years after I joined myself. That's when it was known to be time to move on.

Two things:
First, when people started calling me "maam".
Second, when my co-worker and I realized that her mother was in my graduating class in college.
