Ads are not deleted, but I believe you can log in to the classified page and mark it as sold. It will be moved from the active listings to the archives.

Yep, what Jon said. Mark it sold and we will eventually see it. You can also send a message to any moderator and it will be archived where commenting is not turned on. It is just a reference place more than anything.

Speaking of ad deletion- I understand we need them to support this forum. But, why can't I move the Recent Discussions window located in the right-most column up, ahead of them ads that push to the top of the column and force me to scroll down to read the listing of recent forum discussions?

What the people who buy those ads don't understand is that is not a desirable spot. Viewers get quite adept and zooming past that ad to get to "recent discussions". I'm so used to zooming past that I couldn't tell you what the ad is for.
