App suggestion every time?

This isn't specific to THIS forum but maybe someone has the answer. EVERY time I click on the forum link on my iPad I get asked if I want to go to the app instead.

If I wanted the app I'd have opened the app. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn this off? As I said, it is not just this forum; it happens all the time. (And some are worse as they automatically transfer you to a mobile site, sometimes with no way to get back to the full site.)

If you figure it out, I'd also love to know - maybe it's an App Store/iTunes setting?

This is getting annoying to have to cancel the app request every time I try to do anything.

I get the message every time using an android tablet. Might be auto detecting a mobile browser, IDK.

I think the reason for that prompt is that the app version uses far less data than the regular site. Using my iPhone and the app to access FGRV recently ( 3G ), used little data, but I used it tethered to my MacBook Air as a hot spot, and burned through a ton of my data in just a few days.

It does autodetect a mobile browser- but there seems like there should be some way to turn it off or have it remember your selection.

I had the app for a while, but can't find a way to stop it from giving notifications every time there's a post in a subscribed thread. Keep thinking I'm getting a text message, and it's something on the forum. I'd reinstall it if I could stop the intrusive messaging.

Select FGRV 2.0 at bottom of page. This may take care of it.
I had same problem and can't remember everything I did.
I down loaded the app and I have it saved on the home page also. Just don't select the app page when opening the site.
I deleted the app after downloading and it never asked again.
Anyways, it worked for me.

Funny, I am using the app but it keeps asking me if I want to use the app?! As for all the emails, you can go to your general settings and turn off notifications.
Update, never mind, turning off notifications doesn't work. I am still getting an email every time someone responds to a post?

Jean, you can subscribe to a post. In your settings you are probably set up to subscribe automatically. Just turn that off.

It doesn't ask me about the app unless I've been logged off which apparently is only when I restart the ipad. (Which is frequent as my cell data freezes up if I don't.)

It isn't just this one- I get annoyed when a site switches me to mobile without asking! Once the site lost a sale as I could not get back to the main site where I needed to be. Usually there is a link back to the main site. I wouldn't mind if the mobile sites were not so incredibly clunky. I have unlimited data so don't care if I blow it loading photos though I think another solution would be for regular sites to reduce the size back to dial-up versions.
