I saw a typo in one of my posts, then noticed that the Edit button no longer appears (Delete still does...). I thought that it was just me, or I was missing something, then Benita noted the same change.

Is anything wrong, or did I just miss some design change?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I posted this, and saw that the Edit button is back... maybe there's some condition which prevents editing, such as time since original posting, or existence of intervening posts by other members?

I have also noticed this phenomenom for the past week or so. One of my posts that still exhibits this is here. There is no error in the post that I have noticed... Just the missing "edit" button.

I see all the buttons too. Is the button flat gone...or is it hiding and looks like this:

Yes Brian. There is a time limit on editing one's posts. It's approximately 48 hours.

That was in Adding 12v Sockets & Lights. Thanks for the correction, but the all of my posts in that topic have the Edit button today; I can't remember if they did before.

No, it's the Edit button, which appears along with Delete, Quote, and Reply; but the disappearing icon effect (as you show, Donna) happens too - I haven't had an image for my link button (in the post edit tools) for a long time. That's okay; I know what the button does.

Thanks, Mary. That makes perfect sense. I assume that this is behaviour is new, since I had fixed much older typos before; if it has always been there, I'll plead middle-aged loss of memory...

We had a person abusing the site and so we decided to let everyone make edits for a while and not just shut it off completely.
