I just discovered that the molded fiberglass listing site fiberglass-rv-4sale has closed forever as of 12/31/24, taking with it the largest collection of old ads and photos on the web. It's going to get a lot harder to value our used fiberglass trailers and collect comps for insurance purposes.

A sad day.

Oh my. I know hosting costs have gone way up and that was a free service to users. This is really sad. I'm surprised Social Knowledge didn't buy it and then figure out a way to monetize it, seriously.

We once did a fair job of archiving old ads, but got lax about it (partly) because Fiberglass-RV-4sale.com did such a good job of it. Maybe we can once again get good at it. Thanks for the heads up, Jon!

They did one thing that nobody else did. The compiled ads from Craigslist, Kijii, and eBay, filtered out scams, and sorted by brand. It gave the most complete and searchable picture of the market.

Now that many sellers are moving to FB Marketplace, perhaps it doesn’t matter as much. I really haven’t figured out how to navigate that space, with the general Marketplace alongside numerous private classified groups.
