FiberglassRV.com Newsletter

I just received a series of spams from FiberglassRV.com to all of my email addresses. When did this site go commercial? I want out. Where can I delete my association with this site?

It was hardly spam, and had an easy opt out for future emails. Take a deep breath.

I guess that I'll have to block emails from administrators. I thought that was for something important NOT advertising.

Wow I have recieved all of one email, about a Facebook (which I would never use, but I digress) registry and contest, I get 100 times that from the people trying to sell me viagra ( which I never need, but I digress again).

Compared to what I have gotten from this free site, hardy something to complain over.

Fiberglassrv.com rocks!

I think it's possible that Steve (the OP) is joking. The post is like English humor.

Deep breaths...

Last night we sent out an e-mail to all members. It was short and highlighted some new features and we thought members would like to know about this. If you have more than one account you may have gotten one for each account. If this is the case, we would be happy to merge those accounts.

There was no advertising in the e-mail other than links to the forum itself and our facebook page. We DO NOT share or sell your personal info and do not send out advertisements but since the forum has been through so much change in the last month we thought that letting folks know we're still alive and kicking, as well as introducing some new features would be a nice idea.

Here is a copy of that mail:

I didn't find the email offensive - I didn't know about the trailer registry - so, of course, I zipped over and did that right away. When the FGRV emails start outnumbering the Viagra ads, THEN we might have a problem

One thing that might be causing people some problems is the subscription system - it's easy to have the website email you if someone posts something to a topic you're interested in. This is a good thing!

However, if one or more subscriptions were unintentionally activated, I can see a person might all of a sudden be receiving unexpected emails from FiberglassRV.com.

Not sure this is the problem addressed in this thread, but it could happen. (The solution is to go to your User CP and set the subscriptions to reflect your wishes.)

I didn't have a problem with the email at all.

My only problem is that I don't yet have my egg to register!

I have only one email linked to this site and only received one email about being at facebook ......nothing commercial and many people use facebook (not me) but i didn't mind
Spam is when someones tries to get you to buy something or to get personal information .... that didn't occur here and i like to receive site upgrades (in this case facebook)

How could FiberglassRV know all of your email addresses?

I know a couple of really funny Viagra jokes. Sure wish I could post them....oh, well, maybe at the Colorado Fall Get-Together.

I enjoyed the E-mail, but I sure hope the "warmth" of this site stays.

Apparently Steve was serious. This is his last posting.

We'll miss you, Steve.

BTW, I, also was receiving massive emails from this site until I unchecked the request for notification of answers to my postings. It turns out that if anyone posted after me to a topic, I received an email about it.

Steve's been on fairly recently. Good tip about managing your notifications, though!

Thanks for the tip, I recently ensured I only receive notifications on the few I am currently following.

I just changed email addresses and want to get the weekly newsletter. I already get the daily briefing.

Where do I sign up under a new email name?

My IPS just changes names and gave me a new e-mail address. I'm still getting all the junk email I got before it changed still addressed to my old email address. I was hoping a lot of it might quit. Getting sick of deleting 70 emails a day. I tried "unsubscribing" from many of them, but doing that seems to bring more!

Hi Dave - it looks like you set up a whole new account. You have two accounts now, one under your old address. Hit the contact link at the bottom of the page and we can consolidate these for you....
