Have you tried the drop down menu across the top labelled - Search? Are you a registered member, some forums limit searches to members only - it's free.

From the pull down menu you can also use the option Search Site/Google or if you wish to do it from Google use the following syntax:

"word or phrase to search" site:fiberglassrv.com

Example:

fiberglass trailers with awning site:fiberglassrv.com

A post is a single comment or response to someone elses comment. Just like everything I've written in this single box.

A thread is the collection of posts all stemming from an initial post. So this post is the 3rd post in the thread you started.

Having been around here for a while and knowing some of the terms people have used and who has written about what. I tend to use the advanced search. It narrows down the results.

A post is what you tie your horse to and a thread is what you clean your horse's teeth with, or do I have that backwards.

Dunno Jim,
I've watched a lot of horses chewing posts. And thread holds their harnesses together.

I find that the last option in the Search drop-down menu - the box labelled "Google Custom Search" - produces very good results.

Hi, Larry. Your fellow members have already offered the advice I would've given. Feel free to tell us what you're looking for; there's probably somebody out there who would love to help you search.

How to efficiently search a topic

Wow, thanks to all of you for leading me in the right direction.

Perhaps the following will help others. There's so much invaluable info to tap into.

Here's what I found works the best (I was searching for showers, and in particular, 6 and 12 volt shower pumps).

1) Click on "search"
2) Immediately click on "advanced search"
3) Type in a key word under "key word" (ie, I typed in "shower", then tried another search again with "shower pump)
4) right under "key word" select "search titles only", NOT ""search entire posts". This will narrow down the info to a useable amount of info. Otherwise you'll get a TON of stuff, which is OK if you have alot of time, or have OCD and want to scour everything. I personnalt don't. This step was KEY for me !!!
5) On the bottom right, select a specific "Forum" to again narrow your search. Then just repeat the search with another specific Forum. If you sect "All Forums", you'll get all the "for sale" entries. Like in my case, I got all the for sale eggs with showers.
6) Then click "Search Now", and you're on your way.

THIS MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR ME. Recently I searched for LED lights without the "advanced search", and wasted alot of time.

I have gotten alot of great info from this web site, so I hope this will help others get to what they seek quickly.

I REALLY HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.

tHANKS,

Larry S.

A follow up suggestion.
If you are not getting enough with Larry's #4, try it again with perhaps some of the phrases or words you may have found in the threads you just read from your initial search results. Sometimes we are not searching for the right key words.
If that is still not enough go back and select "search entire post".

You'd be surprised of the amount of great information contained under ambiguous titles. For example in the thread http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...tml#post315747 one would not expect to find out about the differences in tires sizes, the frame on bolers being offset to one side, how to determine if your torsion axle needs replacing and so on.

Who would have thought?
