Location Question

Perhaps I doth complain too much but I am sick and tired of being asked if I will allow FGRV to use my current location. I read the reason when this practice was instituted but it is none of the Forum’s business to know where I am. The website’s programmer should be able to add “permanently opt out” to the pop-up that asks “Allow or Don’t Allow.” I’m sure I’m not the only member who finds this annoying.

Sounds like web browser-specific issue. Firefox asked me only once about my location sharing and never asked me again after I clicked "no" button.

It's a setting in YOUR browser, not the web site.
It's fresh in my mind as I just finished setting up a new SSD in my laptop and had to re-load all my preferred programs and adjust the settings from default to something that at least has an appearance of a bit of privacy.

What browser are you using? There may be a way to permanently turn it off on your end.

Ray, I access FGRV and Escape Owners Forum exclusively on my iPhone, so Safari is the browser. I had, in settings, not allowed FGRV to use location services but the question kept popping up. And I have pop-up blocking apps on my phone which failed to stop it. After someone mentioned it was likely a browser problem problem, I went to Safari in the settings and scrolling almost all the way to the bottom, I found a “switch” that turned off location settings. Since doing that a couple of days ago, I haven’t seen the “request” from either website (both owned by the same people). But that doesn’t change the fact that for some users it is likely still occurring. I just believe that any social media platform that asks this type of question should program its website to allow users to click on a “never” button rather than just “allow” or “don’t allow,” thus permanently opting out. As I stated in my original post, it is none of either of these two website’s business to know where I am, both for privacy and security reasons. I don’t care if they are “only” (as they claimed at onset) trying to determine the speed of user’s internet connections.

They don't even offer a 'yes or no' choice. It's yes, or 'We'll ask again later'.

I find that constant nagging about where am I to be annoying, too. And I'm on Firefox, have 'location' shut off and I still get the FGRV popup wanting to keep my location. Now I'm also getting a popup wanting me to 'help' fellow RV'ers by doing a speed test. They don't need to know that, either. Dismal, is the only word I can use to describe speed.
