Is MySpace still around?
If you use one of these photo storage sites, you are being held hostage. I would advise backing up to your own storage device. You can buy terabyte portable hard drives for little money. You can still use smugmug ( or in my case Dropbox ) for file sharing, but don't count on it being around forever as an archive.

smugmug is a paid service with no advertising that targets pro and serious amateur photographers. they are doing well enough that they just bought Flickr.

I do have all my original photos on my home workstation, and backed up to my home file.server, which uses raid for additional reliability.
