New Feature: Videos

Hello everyone! I just wanted to announce that we are testing a new feature that allows you to upload videos to your posts. When you click the "Manage Attachments" button, you should see an option to upload a video. Here is a screenshot:

Name:	Capture.JPG
Views:	35
Size:	32.3 KB
ID:	53208

It is also located right under the message area when you are making a new post/thread. If you add a video there, it will start uploading immediately.

I recommend starting with some small videos if possible. The current limit is 500MB for videos.

This is a new feature, and I expect there to be some bugs, so please do not hesitate posting problems that you may be having.

So to launch the first public video here, here you go:

Nice feature addition. I like the video as well. I'm going to show my kids.

In case you did not know, right after you posted it, I could not view the video. It said it was "processing". I checked back a several minutes later and it was done.

Thanks Eric. Since there are so many different video formats, we take each video and encode it into one standard that is compatible amongst the most devices. This takes a little processing time and there really is no way around it. Youtube and Facebook all do the same thing.

Enjoy!

I don't get what's new...Haven't we always been able to upload videos like this one just by pasting the link into the post?

That's our pasting feature. The new feature allows you to upload videos.

Fancy!

I think...as if, even after reading that link, I understand the difference between "uploading" and pasting the link in as before.

I'm a bit of a computer moron, so please bear with me while I try to wrap my head around the change.

Is it so we can upload homemade (but of course relevant) videos for FGRV to store?

Thanks!

Francesca

Thanks for the new feature!
Your sample video brings up memories for me of growing up in the 1950's when films like this were shown in my classroom and we practiced "duck and cover" as well as going to the school bomb shelter in the basement with great seriousness. Who else in the Fiberglass Community remembers "duck and cover" bomb and earthquake drills of the 1950's?
