I've noticed a lot of google links to fiberglassrv.com are redirecting to a 404 page at URL123.com some of them seem to aggressively load banner ads and I had one try to launch some Java and the browser quit on me.

Do you know what's going on? Sometimes it's as simple as the fiberglassrv.com/board form link right off the Google search page submenu when you enter fiberglassrv

Do you have a custom 404 page so it can stop defaulting to this link123 stuff? Or does that somehow pay some bills?

regards,

Matt

I just got it again, this time on my cell phone coming off the /forum link on Google. The actual 404 has "url123.info" in the address

[li]go to Google
type fiberglassrv.com in the searchbox
click on the Forum link[/li]

does anyone else get this??

I just tried the three Google Ads on the left, the top one went to url123.com, the other two went to their respective sites correctly.

Hmmm...

Edit: Just tried it again with the next set of ads that showed up. All were fine. Curiouser and curiouser.

I'm only going to speculate here... but Google indexes FiberglassRV, that's why you can use Google Search. Indexes don't ever go away if the website is still active. We were HACKED and lost all the forums in November 2005, over 100,000 posts and topics. If Google search has any of the pages indexed prior to that date, you're going to get an error message. If that is the case, then there's nothing we can do about it. Google is bigger than we are Don't have a clue as to what might be going on with the ads tho...

Would this have anything to do with the unsually high number of security updates that Micro$oft has released in the last week? They were applied across a large # of programs. 17 for me in the last 24 hours.

No, in this case it's the forum that has the issue, and it can happen to users browsing with any PC, Mac, Unix or iPhone. The problem was resolved by the Invision Power Board folks on other forums when a support applied a patch to the forums and also cleaned and changed the permissions of a file.

It would be great if the FiberglassRV webmaster could contact Invision Power Board and get the patch applied here so the forum would stop redirecting to the Russian spammer site. There is a little more info here:

My advice: access FiberglassRV.com directly, and use our Search function, instead of Google's.

We're looking into the patch you mention, but I cannot speak for the owner or his programers' workload.

Apologies for the confusion this may cause.
