Everybody got that message.

Hopefully it's all fixed now, though.

I have noticed how busy the site has been over the past month and you pay for X amount of bandwidth per month for web servers. Hopefully this doesn't impact Andy's bottom line too much =(

Bandwidth is one of the reasons we don't allow pictures here that are hosted on other sites. (the kind that display here... but actually are linked from somewhere else). Thanks for everyone's cooperation!

No, opposite.

We don't want to BE the photo hosting site for other sites.
We do encourage everyone to post their photos here though for our members.

Doug, to clarify...

You can post as many photos here as you want, provided that they're hosted here. In other words, you actually upload the photo to this server. What we don't allow are pass-through links... where the photo is actually hosted on another server, but the URL is embedded in the HTML to cause the photo to show here, but the file actually lives on another server somewhere else like Flickr or Smugmug or such. That uses huge amounts of bandwidth, and that's what's expensive.

I hope that helps...

Rorger

Linking pictures from other sites also has a huge unintended downside. Anyone that spends time on FiberglassRV knows the members like to look at pictures... all kinds of pictures. Pictures of campout goodtimes to modifications... the old saying of a picture being worth a thousand words is true. However when a picture is linked from another site, rather than embedded in the topic, we can lose the picture if the site owner (freebie sites) quit picture hosting or perhaps if the original poster here on FiberglassRV stops maintaining the webpage where the site is linked. See this image below, an actual screenshot from here on FiberglassRV. Ask yourself if linking the picture had unintended consequences....
