Took a journey from north of Detroit through OH, KY, TN, GA, and AL. My goal was to stay at three AL State Parks: Lakepoint, Cheaha, and DeSoto.
Stopped once in KY to boondock street side next to a brewery.
In TN I spent a few days exploring the area between Lenoir City TN and Robbinsville NC.
Lakepoint was very quiet. Very few people in the entire park April 18. If you like to fish for bass, this is the place to go. Eufaula Lake allows fishing. Watch for the alligators! Open sites, treed. The bathhouses need some refurbishment.
Cheaha, in the lower campground was small but nice. The highest points of AL can be found here. The weekends bring a many people to the popular points of interest here. You can get "lost" in the trails within the Talladega National Forest. The hike to the Cheaha Falls is a good one.
DeSoto began with a quite a few people using the campgrounds. Wednesday and Thursday was quiet. A good time to take a hike in the woods. Facilities were kept very nicely. Many go to DeSoto Falls. I was not the only one with a
Fiberglass RV. Two Casitas were nearby.
