We want to head that way in a few days. Have you found a nice site with low fees and lots of sunshine? Want company? Don't want to lock into reservation. We are in 25' fiberglass trailer.

Welcome to Texas. Sort of cold right now, but is forecast to warm up some (with possible rain) this weekend. Todays's Dallas Morning News paper says in upper 40s today but warming to middle 60s in a couple of days down by the coast near Corpus Christi and Brownsville. Not much BLM land but there is some free/cheap camping on the beach areas around Rockport and Matagorda .

Hi Dick---I am very interested in knowing about these cheap/free camping sites near Rockport. We have plans to head down that way to spend next winter and are always looking for good camping areas.

See if these links will help.

Free Camping, Texas is a good start for free and county parks. A lot of it is primative and may not be what you are looking for long term. There are a lot of commercial campgrounds in the valley. Beach camping around Matagorda. And the National Seashore area at Corpus Christi. Maybe someone will chime in with more info. We have not camped there in a few years. We were packed up to go recently when Hurricane Harvey blew in.
