A quick thanks to everones input on my recent posts asking about various campgrounds in south Fla and the Keys. We are back and here is the report.

The 1st place we stayed was Jonathan Dickenson SP just north of Jupiter Fl. It was sad to see all of the trees were gone, nothing but scrub and a few recently planted palm trees. I did not hear for sure but I think it must of been storm damage. We rested there for the night after driving down from Atlanta.

Our next stop was Bahia Honda Sp. We spent 3 nights there a very nice park with nice beaches and the best Scuba diving in the state. A nice side trip to Key West for dinner, entertainment ,and sunset on Mallory Square.

Our last place to stay was John Pennecamp SP at Key Largo. More good scuba, beaches ect. We were introduced to a nasty crature called a noseeum , They are so small that they came in through the screens. I almost brought the window AC but did not due to a nice weather forcast. If I were to go to the Keys again I woul take it and keep the windows closed to keep out the noseeums.

After 6 nights we were going to stop at Crytal River but elected to go home thinking that our 13 foot camper was starting to get smaller every day.

Nice to get away and nice to be back home Don

Temporary noseeum fix - use magnets both inside and out and put a piece of noseeum screen on your usual screen. It will help and the cost will be minimum.

Also, if you have ANY hole in your tailer, those little babies find it and come in.

OK, now you have been bit, what do you do? Clear finger nail polish put on each bite, will make the itching stop. This also works for chiggers.

Don, the absence of trees in Jonathan Dickinson State Park was caused by a getaway controlled burn by the state a couple of years ago . That park I believe is in three parts and when we went in Feb we got a site in the River campground section which was not affected by the fire and is very nice

nope hurricanes wiped out the one campground at J D SP . even took out the concrete bath house.
The scrub brush is what is burned off now so it is not as green as it should be , that and the drought in the area. Rain season starts in june that should help.
