Bayou Stegnette State Park near New Orleans

I can recommend Bayou Stegnette State Park if you want a place near New Orleans. About 30 min to the French Quarter by car. We'll maintained, locked at night but with a night gate code to get in, air conditioned restrooms with showers & laundry. Electric & water hookups at sites, dump station in campground.

Thanks for this, Doug. I'm in New Orleans now, at a bed & breakfast (which is great). Have often wondered if the area campgrounds would be a good alternative.

We' stayed there 3 times now. Last Christmas was one. FYI the laundry is free, no additional charge. Also they have free WiFI

We went to Algiers point parked and took the ferry across the river right into the French Quarter. Didn't have to drive on those narrow streets. At that time (about 3 years ago) the ferry was free.

Bayou Seggnette

We also loved it. Very clean. Lots and lots of bunnies.

The wave pool wasn't open for the season yet when we went, but we checked it out and it looks like it would be a lot of fun.

I don't know, though, how to pronounce or spell it!
