Big Pine Key annual trip

Time to go hang with the snowbirds again!
For years we've taken winter vacations around our anniversary week. Five years ago for our twentieth, we decided to tour Florida down one coast and up the other with a short visit to Key West. Saw the Space Shuttle Launch, drove on Daytona Beach, saw St Augustine, made it to Import Faceoff in Gainesville, had a blast.

But there was something about the lower keys...

The following year we stayed 3 days, then 4 the next, and so on. Found a place and a group we like at Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge and now reserve our spot for the next year as we leave to head home. This year we're spending the whole two weeks at BPK. I'll try to keep some sunny pictures posted here.

I've now been happily married for 20 years! 20 out of 24 ain't bad!

Two years ago we had booked campgrounds down the east coast of Florida to the Keys and back up the west coast. This was for the month of February. About mid January we decided to stay on Jekyll after being there since Dec. 1 so cancelled all of the Florida reservations. Probably should have done that trip to get a feel for those campgrounds as it's been colder here on Jekyll than we like but can't find sites available in the Florida state parks where we want.

Wow, sounds wonderful to be down there with your little fiberglass fun house. Ours is of course still winterized, but we are surely on the ends of winter now. Saying this, we have snow on the ground, but not too much. Roads are fine. May 27 is our break out trip to Lonesboro MN.

My spies tell me there's a Trillium in a neighboring site! Hope he's still there tomorrow when we arrive.

Evidently not a drinker of the FGRV Koolaid- i hear it came from Quebec behind a VW Beetle with no WDH.

So far I've seen the aforementioned Trillium a Casita, and the North Carolina Scamp that's always here.

I missed seeing the Trillium, they left this morning. Did meet some folks from Ontario in an Escape, though.

Around here we have an occasional unintentional hand-feeding. Our neighbor looked away from the sandwich in his hand and it got bit!Click image for larger version

Good for you guys. Enjoy the sun and water.

We have snow coming in tonight and tomorrow–probably about 4 inches and then more cold. Enough already with this winter. When am I ever going to get out in my trailer?

How did you like the paddle board? I'm thinking about one of those. How steady did you feel on it (balance wise)? Did it seem like something you could do for an hour or two, or was it more like ten minutes and "let me off this thing"?

You can stand and paddle a canoe too. And, sit, and, kneel.
