Does anyone have a favorite campground directory they use to plan trips or to just have handy when on the road and you need a place to stop?

I've looked at the local Barnes & Noble and they didn't have much and it's hard to tell on Amazon if I a book is going to be good or not. We'll be mostly in New England/New York area.

We'll probably stick to state/national parks, but would like to have information handy on other options. We don't need hook-ups and don't need a swimming pool/game room/etc.

Thanks,

Todd

I like Don Wright's Guide to FREE CAMPGROUNDS. There's an eastern and western edition. The campgrounds listed are not all free, some are as high as $12/night, at least in the western edition.

Another web site to look at is http://www.freecampgrounds.com/

I have used the Trailer Life Campground Directory for over 25 years and have never found anything better. I get a new one every other year. Tom

Request the Camping books. I did it online, but you can always call your local AAA office and ask for maps, travel books, and camping books for any state. You might as well take advantage of them, you're paying for them.
