Just got back from camping on Quadra Island for a few days. There are lots of small islands surrounding Vancouver Island, and this is one of the larger ones. We opted for a campsite at Taku Resort (has a marina, cabins on the beach, suites, and about 12-13 serviced campsites). Campsites are very close to the beach and private marina. the marina sits right in Heriot Bay, overlooking Rebecca Spit, so is very sheltered, much more so than other locations on the opposite side of the island. There is another campsite adjacent to the provincial park on Rebecca Spit, but it is much larger (about 145 sites), quite close together, and from talking with folks who were staying there, was quite rowdy in the evenings.

the picture from the water is the view of the marina from across the bay. We plan to go back at least once more this year.

Thanks for the camp report Janice. I have played gigs at heriot bay inn a few times and stayed in a cabin at Village Bay lake. Never thought to actually camp there!

How much did they ding you for the Ferry? We got hit for $155 coming back from Powell River this weekend after the price hikes.

yikes! was about $52 round trip for us -- we are about 35' in total with the truck and trailer.

We scouted around a bit looking at a couple of campsites. There is also one at the south end of the island by the Cape Mudge lighthouse that has a few serviced lots. Its definitely more isolated in terms of amenities, but looks right over Discovery passage.
