Casita Delivery Service
Has anyone out there used the Casita delivery service for their new trailer? What are your thoughts? Starting to think that 1400 miles through the heat of Texas, NM, AZ, and CA to get back to the West Coast in early June might not be such a great first adventure...

There are stopping points to escape the heat if you plan your route well. Ruidoso, NM, and Flagstaff, AZ come to mind. You’d just need one more, maybe, to make the trip bearable.
You’ll have to do the math on delivery cost vs. round trip travel.

Thanks, Jon. Yeah I considered that route but still lots of miles between "cool" spots. I don't figure we'll be making big mileage days as newbies.

There was a thread about delivery to CA sometime this past year. IIRC the new owner was disappointed because the delivery driver was elderly (?) and they had communication difficulties when he was explaining how all the systems work. Yes, strange thread. Poster was RagingRedwood or something similar.

Hopefully you have a Casita with air conditioning. In that case, I'd think that early June shouldn't be too bad; for the hottest parts you'll be in your TV and as long as you arrange to stop at parks with power you can have comfortable nights. If you are in northern CA you might think about heading north through CO and across, even if the distance is greater.
Make sure your TV is a genuine 5000 lb tow capacity, not just a guess. The cooling system will be tested in warm weather, at altitude, climbing the Rockies. IMO a sure sign that a vehicle is not a true 5000 capacity is if the rated horsepower is less than about 290-300 hp.

All part of the journey
Our trip home from Rice to Washington state was a great time to celebrate the year wait was over. Made the trip in April of 2017 and we still talk about something we saw or enjoyed. Take the trip and enjoy!!

Early June should be fine. Late June or early July starts to get rough. Late July into August is very rough.
Take short days the first few days, Texas has good state parks with power at many sites. I think the booking window is either 5 or 6 months, so you should be able to book some.
First night or two I would stay with 50 miles of Rice. Then maybe another 100 miles once you leave that spot. After that I would bet that you feel fine pulling a few 300-350 mile days.
Granted, that doesn’t get you far when trying to traverse West Texas and New Mexico, but shouldn’t be bad.
The advice to head north is not bad, depending on your destination and time available. If you need to get to Southern California quickly though, I-10 is quicker.

We bought a new Casita last year and did not want to make the drive to Texas from SE Florida in the summer. We ended up splitting the difference and took delivery in Pensacola, Florida, and we were happy with the outcome. The Casita was delivered at a campground. The delivery person only delivers and does not explain anything about the Casita. Make sure you ask all your questions and watch the videos in advance.

We used to service it was some years ago. it was delivered by a couple. They stated hotels along the way. Facilities in The trailer were unused. We did the inspection upon arrivalThey kept us informed and we’re on time. Good experience

We used the delivery service in 2015, we live on the Monterey Bay in Calif. We did it for a few of reasons, we did not have the time then to drive there and back. The cost of delivery was close to the same as us driving down and back. The biggest reason, it was November and Texas was under water much the way we are now in California.
The delivery was very professional. An older gentleman did the delivery and the trailer is kept locked an all times and the driver stays in motels as needed.
We declined the orientation because the On line Casita videos along with the in depth A-Z Casita manual available made the orientation unnecessary.
