Castle Rock Campground

Stayed here on Saturday/Sunday, one of the best parks I've stayed in yet, quiet, clean, Friendly hosts, close to the lake, and lots of good sites. It is now a good Sam park. It may be passed it's heyday, but for anybody wanting to camp in the UP, close to Mackinaw, I think It's great. A double thumbs up from my wife for sleepability. (she's the light sleeper of the two of us)

Castle Rock Mackinac Trail Campground is located in Saint Ignace Michigan, just minutes north of the Mackinaw City and the Mackinac Bridge. It is close to the Mackinac Island Ferry Lines, Kewadin Casino, and other attractions. It is easily located off of I-75 about 280 miles north of Detroit.

Coming from the Lower Peninsula:
After exiting the Mackinac Bridge, stay on I-75 headed north. Continue 4 miles and take exit 348. Turn right. proceed 1 block and turn left on to Mackinac Trail. Continue 4 blocks to the park entrance. The campground is on the Lake Huron side of the road, across from the Castle Rock overlook.
Coming from Sault St. Marie:
Exit I-75 at exit # 348 (Castle Rock Exit), go 1 block, then turn left on to Mackinac Trail. Continue 4 blocks to the park entrance. The campground is on the Lake Huron side of the road, across from the Castle Rock overlook.
Coming from Wisconsin or the West:
Follow highway US-2 to I-75 North. Continue 4 miles and take exit 348. Turn right. proceed 1 block and turn left on to Mackinac Trail. Continue 4 blocks to the park entrance. The campground is on the Lake Huron side of the road, across from the Castle Rock overlook.

Wow! I'd have said just head north through St Ignace, not on I-75 and look for it on the right after getting out of town (unless the town has spread out there since I haven't been up that way in several years). Never stayed there but have stayed at the nearby Forest Service campground and the state park.

yeah well i get kind of wordy................
actually, that's cut from their website. Also, for groceries in the area St ignace has a Glen's market that has really good prices, and if you have to there is a walmart supercentre about half an hour further north on 3 mile road just before the Sault.
