Cedar Key for Thanksgiving?

SWMBO says she wants to go where it's WARM.
We're headed down Wednesday evening, back in Atlanta Sunday night. Sunday's her birthday, as well.

Any FGRVers in that area? Seems really cool, the place we're staying has a Turkeyday potluck dinner. Can't wait, then we'll go paddle with the manatees. Good times.

Spent the day prepping. Went out to the carwash to rinse her off

Just got home from the Celtic Fest in Dunedin. It was a bit breezy, but in the mid seventies at four, still 70 on the truck thermometer readout on the way home ten minutes ago. Cedar Key will be a little bit cooler. Have a wonderful Turkey Day trip!

Thanks! 70 sounds great compared to the daytime high of 50s here. Plenty warm for standup paddling... so long as one stays standing up!

Who's Travis? Maybe we'll meet him in the morning.

Rolled in to Sunset RV Park at almost 8, and they done rolled up the sidewalks! Got everything chocked and locked, enjoyed some smoked mullet dip, now for a shower and some shuteye.

Pic from Otter Creek, Fla. Saw "Smoked Mullet" painted on the wall at this crossroads store and came to a screeching halt. Click image for larger version

We enjoy them a lot. This time of year we hope to see manatees up in the springs.

Sorry, It's from the Jimmy Buffett song "Incommunicado" off his Coconut Telegraph album:

Travis McGee's still in Cedar Key
That's what ole John McDonald said
My rendezvous so long overdue
All of the things I've sung and I've read
They still apply to me, they all make sense in time.......

Travis McGee's a character in John McDonald's Books.

Hope you are having a great Thanksgiving! I stayed at Sunset Isle last October before moving to Shellmound County Park, 8 miles up the coast.

We've just biked past that to Cedar Key Scrub WMA. Thinking we may go get the truck and explore in it. Cold and wind put the kibosh on paddling plans today!

Don't go walking on the grass trails in shorts! Advice from a Northern guy who discovered Chiggers last October. Still, a pretty area - 2013 Trip, Day 22.

Looks great, Happy Thanksgiving.

How long are you staying? I'll be there next weekend as will the Tin Can Tourists.

How difficult is it to learn to stand up paddle? It looks interesting, but then so does hang gliding....and I'm afraid of heights!

Cedar Key is on my agenda!
